Song Lyrics

Oceans Rising

Well they say the ocean is rising
Not too surprising
We've been warned

And you say, there's no use in even trying
Because after all, we're all dying
From the day we are born

And for every tree we plant, we cut four down
In the name of free enterprise
And we build our mcmansion in the sun
with the A.C. on, and two cars in the drive

Oh they say it is doomed beyond belief
The Great Barrier Reef is fading fast
Pretty soon, all that's left of its former glory
Is a sad, sad story and old photographs

And for every one who walks, a thousand drive
In the name of free enterprise
Because we all want our mcmansion in the sun
With the A.C. on, and two cars in the drive

Are you listening, why aren't you listening
How can you turn your eyes away from this mess we're in
It's time to question our self-deception
And turn the tide before the tide rushes in

Oh they say there is no easy answer
It's like curing cancer, so much harder than it seems
It will take all our courage, faith and time
to redefine the American Dream

And if we agree that we won't compromise
In the name of free enterprise
We won't want that mcmansion in the sun
With the A.C. on, and two cars in the drive

And they say the ocean is rising

Note: Oceans Rising will makes its debut on Grainger & Wetzel's first acoustic rock CD, Part Circus/Part Rodeo, due to be released in December 2007. More information is available on the website of True North, their indie-bluegrass band, www.truenorthbluegrass.com."

Oceans Rising

Just wanted to send a note of thanks for sharing our song, Oceans Rising, with your constituencies. It has just become available on itunes as well as a number of other online digital music stores; it is one of the tracks on our new CD, "Part Circus, Part Rodeo." It is not bluegrass, more acoustic pop or folk-rock, whatever. For lack of a better genre name, we've dubbed it "modern throwback."

Anyway, to quote Eyeore, thanks for noticin'.

Curious

What process exactly created the numerous wave-cut platforms we see around the UK coastline ? Where was MMGW in creating the past sea level rise ?

There also needs be a song called Oceans Falling...as that is what it has done for the past 10,000 years !

(oh...and don't forget about isostatic readjustment ! In southern England that has a significant impact on the 'figures ')
